To provide a comfortable, natural sand bed for each of our cows requires 50 to 60 pounds of sand per cow per day or roughly 15,000,000 pounds per year. In 2016 we installed a state-of-the-art sand recovery and recycling system that allows us to recover over 90% of the sand we use. That is a savings of more than 13,500,000 pounds of sand annually which is just one of the ways we work to preserve natural resources.
